New House, Same Ol’ La’ie
Soak Up The Sun In This Newly Built La’ie Home.
Tucked away on a sandy beach in Laie sits a brand-new residence built by Homeworks Construction. Named Hale Kaiulani after Hawaii’s Crown Princess Victoria Kaiulani, the four-bedroom, 3 ½-bathroom abode is so much more than just a nice house by the beach. One of three in the new Mahakea development project, a little slice of heaven can now be yours!
Paradise and Privacy Along La’ie’s Shore.
The idea was to create an easy flow and very functional spaces in a high end, moderately sized home. Our team designed this new home to take full advantage of the allotted space as well as the surrounding environment. Our architects put a lot of thought into the elevation of the house to make sure it’ll be safe for years to come. We constructed the home 75 feet from the sea to account for tidal changes and eventual erosion while still maintaining picturesque vistas of the open ocean.
We constructed the house to allow for ample parking in the front and a large yard in the back. By doing this, we can offer more space between the structure itself and the beach. The Homeworks Construction team gave careful consideration to the placement of each house in the development. Future homeowners will be able to soak in their island views, unobstructed by neighbors. We understand that keeping others from seeing inside the home is important too; that’s why windows were precisely placed to ensure privacy.
Outdoor Living
We built this home to withstand Hawai’i’s busy indoor-outdoor lifestyle. Everything about Hale Kaiulani — from its outdoor-rated ceiling fans to its first-floor porcelain tile flooring — was selected with beach-house living in mind. Homeworks Construction installed aluminum railings which received an architectural-grade powder coating. We used stainless steel fasteners and other corrosion-resistant materials throughout. We acquired interior light fixtures from an indoor-outdoor lighting company.
A private outdoor shower allows residents to rinse off salt and sand before heading inside. Homeworks Construction created two outdoor showers. One near the front of the home and the other by the pool — for washing away salt and sand before going inside. You won’t have to worry about sand though; the composite decking around the perimeter was added with beach-bound feet in mind.
Indoor Luxury
Clearly, form — however crucial — was not sacrificed for function. As practical as Hale Kaiulani is, it’s equally as beautiful. When you’re designing and building a house to go on the market, it’s important to have it look unique, but it still needs to appeal to a broad amount of people.
Specialist Elyse Grable incorporated both light and dark finishes to create contrast amid the house’s modern, beachy look. Shaker-style cabinets with a cherry finish that are balanced by white quartz countertops in the kitchen. The powder room features some of the same. Its cherry-colored cabinets and porcelain white countertops are complemented by a glass vessel sink in opaque dew. Grable’s carefully curated finishes comprise natural hues and lots of chrome, especially in one of her favorite Hale Kaiulani spaces: the master bath.
Part of a considerably sized master suite, the accompanying bathroom boasts both a rain shower head as well as a hand-held shower head with slide bar — plus a 66-inch-long free-standing tub placed just below a large window. We created the ultimate home spa experience with an even better view.
Island Life
Our client has a very specific taste in design that he likes, which is a contemporized island feel. Flow and open functional spaces are important. We kept the journey – how seamlessly one navigates throughout the home, from front to back – at the top of mind when designing and planning the new home.
The home’s style is part of a growing trend found in both residential and resort properties around the world. We made every decision, from the flooring to cabinets to finishes, collaboratively with the desired island style in mind. We selected finishes not only based on the look but also the quality, as these fixtures have to withstand the elements.
Homeworks Construction further built on the island theme by using various types of wood throughout the home. We used Ohia columns to support the eave overhangs and left unstained for a natural look. Continuing that theme. we also used Ohia to make the fence posts along the perimeter of the house.
Homeworks Construction designed the entire house to make it as maintenance free as possible,” says the owner. No worries or stress – true bliss.
